Pre-Retirement Lunch and Learn Seminars

 

May 20th, 2008 at Southern Maine Community College – Jewett Hall

 

Two sessions will be offered:

11:30 am to 12:30 pm

12:45 pm to 1:45 pm

 

This session is for State of Maine employees only and is geared toward those who have 15 or more years of service credit or those who are age 50 or older.  In addition to providing you with an overview of your benefits as a member of MainePERS, this session provides detail about how your retirement benefit will be calculated and information about the retirement process itself. This is an hour-long session and those attending are encouraged to bring a lunch or snack. 

 

Pre-registration is required before May 14th.  You may register by sending an email to StateUnit@mainepers.org or by calling the MainePERS State Unit at 1-800-451-9800.  You may bring a guest if you wish; just let us know when you register if someone will be joining you.

Small Group Retirement Counseling Sessions

 

These sessions are offered at the Maine Public Employees Retirement System office, located at 96 Sewall Street, Augusta, Maine 04330.  See schedule below for dates/times.

 

These sessions are for those who are eligible to retire within the next 12 months and are seriously considering doing so. These are very small group sessions geared toward those ready to retire where we review how each benefit payment option works, provide information about the preliminary benefit program and how benefits are paid.  After a short group informational session, members may stay to meet one-on-one with System staff for individual questions and to complete their retirement application paperwork if they so choose. 

 

The sessions tend to fill up fast. Pre-registration is required and those who wish to attend should also have asked us to provide them with an estimate of their retirement benefit within the past 12 months.  You may request an estimate and/or register for these sessions by sending an email to StateUnit@mainepers.org or by calling the State Unit at MainePERS at 1-800-451-9800.  You may bring a guest to the session if you wish; just let us know when you register if someone will be joining you.
